Freedom Fund
When someone is detained by ICE, their freedom comes with a price tag. Families who are already struggling financially are suddenly expected to come up thousands of dollars. Bond is supposed to offer a way out, but for many, it is completely out of reach.
The people who are being detained came here seeking safety, stability, and a better life. Many have fled violence or persecution, and most had already been living in the U.S. for years, working, raising families, and building community before they were taken.
Detention compounds the harm and trauma many immigrants have already lived through.
People held in ICE custody often face:
Overcrowded cells and inadequate, sometimes unsafe, food
Medical neglect and a lack of basic hygiene supplies
Isolation, abuse, and mistreatment by staff and contractors
ICE detention tears families apart, destabilizes communities, and causes lasting emotional and psychological damage.
This is not just a legal issue. It is a humanitarian one.
We are raising funds for our bond program so we can provide gap payments when someone we are supporting in detention is granted bond but larger bond funds cannot cover the full amount due to payment caps. We are seeing more bonds set at $10,000 and $15,000, often requiring families and advocates to piece together support from multiple funds. This allows us to step in quickly to close the remaining balance so a person is not left detained simply because of a shortfall.
Every dollar donated to this fund goes directly to bond and helps bring them home.
