Sanford Mutual Aid Fund

When a loved one is detained by ICE, families often lose their only source of income. During periods of increased immigration enforcement, sheltering in place can be the safest option. Lost wages quickly lead to unpaid rent, utilities, and food insecurity.

In Sanford and the surrounding area, there are few resources equipped to respond specifically to these situations. The Sanford Mutual Aid Fund was created to help address that gap.

This initiative is run by Mainers for Humane Immigration, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Sanford that supports people impacted by ICE detention and immigration enforcement.

100% (minus processing fees) of donations go directly to:

  • groceries and food delivery

  • diapers, hygiene items, and household essentials

  • short term family assistance during periods of sudden disruption

In addition to monetary donations, we also accept gift cards to Hannaford, Walmart, Shaw’s, and the Maria Grocery Store (African market) in Biddeford.
